Forgotten Gods

Old Gods never die,

they’re just forgotten about in time

and replaced with a new

kind.

So let me forget the new Christian god,

the Jesus born one.

Let me remember the God’s

of the earth and the great provider sun.

Let me forget the false ideologies

of this era of modern science,

And let me re-remember the elves, the gnomes

and the ancient giants.

Let me forget the hidden gods

of this age of materialism,

And may I re-remember the natural gods,

of heathenism.

Let me remember the gods

and the ancient ways of long ago.

Let me remember my primitive ancestors

and the ways we all have now outgrown.

I want to remember to dance to bring about the rain

and to learn again how to honour the brave bear.

Let me remember once again to see god in everything

and every where.

Let me remember the gods,

buried in the deep subconscious.

Let me remember the gods ancient and old

of the mystical and the mysterious.

Let me remember the gods of the ‘old times,’

who still live in my mind.

Let me forget the Gods of materialism and science,

those modern opinionated gods of today,

And let me remember,

‘the old ways.’
