Not a poetic bone in me

Now I couldn’t write a poem

to save my simple life,

but I got this little girl

whom I want to make my wife.

And so I really want to impress her

with a poetic word, if only I could manage!

For I want to make her mine

and join our love in marriage.

And I figure that the best way

to impress the feminine kind,

is to write a ‘little something,’

that is ending in a little rhyme.

I know exactly how I feel,

but I can’t seem to find the words.

To put down how I feel,

into passionately poetic verse.

So I hired myself a poet,

the best in all the land.

And he wrote me a little love poem

to impress my little woman.

But she knew it wasn’t me,

the poem was too sophisticated.

She knew it wasn’t my stile

and that I hadn’t really written it.

And so she got a little angry

and I set about to appease her.

She got a little angry

for she thought I had ‘deceived her.’

And then all of a sudden, something came over me ...

while I was under pressure.

And glory be to god, (out from my mouth came ‘poetry,’)

with a love you couldn’t measure.

I a- likened her to a rose,

to the many flowers in the garden.

I got down on my knees (as if ...)

begging her for pardon.

She said "yes" to my marriage proposal

and we’ve set the wedding date.

A little bit of poetry

had hooks her like it was bate.

So remember guys;

express yourself with emotions,

wake up and ‘get real.’

And put it all into poetry

and tell her how you feel.
