Proper gander

The more my country tells me “I have a basic freedom of speech.”

The more quite frankly I wonder "if I do."

The more my country tells me “justice is for everyone.”

The more quite frankly I see situations where it is not.

The more my country tells me “I have a right to protest.”

The more quite frankly I think, “when did I not!?"

The more my country tells me that “all human life is precious.”

The more quite frankly I see people abused and ignored.

The more I hear my country making statements that should be assumed,

the more quite frankly I wonder; “why is my country stating the bleeding obvious!?”

And so the more my country states the bleeding obvious

the more quite frankly I wonder, "am I being conned!?"
