The Mongrel political system

In a democracy

the most important trait of a politician is not to lead,

but to be a good follower of the ‘peoples will.’

But in practice we seem to finish up with someone who follows a little

and leads a lot.

Perhaps this is because we are stuck somewhere between a true democracy and a dictatorship?
