The bureaucrat

I am ‘a bureaucrat,’

I have a relationship with the state,

although at times it is one of;’ love and hate.’

None the less I enforce its rules;

because deep down I believe that; “rules are rules,”

they are meant to be followed.

And I know that in this you sometimes think me ‘hollow.’

But I don’t make up the rules,

I only do what I’m told,

come what may.

And what I am told comes from you.

I am your humble servant.

‘I am the bureaucrat.’
