Welfare reform

I’m beginning to shake in my second hand boots

every time I hear the government say “there’s going to be some welfare reform.”

I know the word ‘reform’ is suppose to be a good thing,

so why does it make me feel so much fear?

It’s the same for my poorer friends, but my more ‘well off’ friends simply say, “well it’s about time the poor got more.”

‘Welfare reform’ it’s a funny term; it seems to mean different things to different people, depending on how much money you have.
