Forever and ever

“I’ll love you for ever and ever”

are the words of many a teenage love song.

But as people get older, they learn in practice

that “forever and ever” gets a little ‘less long.’

And by the time most people are old enough to get married,

they tend to settle with the idea of, “till death do us part.”

This is perhaps more down to earth and realistic

but also perhaps, a little less idealistic at heart.
