Proud to be

Carrying the dead dear back to its den

grasps firmly in its jaws,

the lion’s following the ways of the animals,

following the ‘natural laws;’

and proud to be a loin.

----------

Running swiftly over the mountain side

running in the herd,

the horse follows the rules of the stallion,

following a primitive urge.

and proud to be a horse.

----------

Sitting still in contemplation,

thinking about all the creatures of the world,

the human follows the rules of nature,

as the truth of all is being revealed.

and proud to be human.
