Gross national wealth

Gross national happiness, / or gross national product.

Which is more important, / the people or the buck?

Do people come first / or is it the economy that is the master?

Do we slow down or just, / keep on going faster?

Is it materialism that will dictates, / what we say and do.

Or is it simply ‘gross national happiness,’ / for me and for you.

Which is the greater force in determining ‘human conduct’?

People’s ultimate happiness, / or the mighty ‘gross national buck?’
